Dreaming of a Green Christmas

SafariSweet Deal

I’m sure as August kicks off, the last thing on your mind is weather so cold you mutter profanity as you leave the warm cocoon of home. Soon enough though, the autumn will be here and the cold, steely dread will set in. As winter approaches you’ll be wishing for warmer climes.

We at the pig have a solution for the impending wintery pain—you should travel to Africa. That’s right, if you start thinking about it now and get us to put the wheels in motion, in no time you’ll have a winter escape plan in place for the family and all will be warm in sunny in your world. Planning this far ahead means that there is still space at lodges and hotels to be had, so you’ll be sitting pretty when everyone else is scrambling.

So without further preamble, here is some food for thought.

• When the weather is hot in Cape Town take advantage of the More Hotel groups amazing offer; with three nights at one of their fantastic safari lodges you get three free nights at their gorgeous hotel in Cape Town.

• In Mozambique, you can travel up to the Quirimbas Archipelago and starting at Ibo Island Lodge, begin an Indian Ocean island hopping odyssey on a traditional African Dhow.

• Rates are much lower in December and January as it’s the rainy season. Don’t be put off though; it’s still a great time to be on safari. Particularly in Botswana and Namibia as vast tracks of the country turn green.

These are just a few of the ideas
